Town Government
HCTV has provided live coverage of the Board of Selectmen and Town Meeting since 1984. In addition, we cover many other boards and committees when they are dealing with issues of town-wide interest.School Committee meetings are televised on the Education Station, Pirate TV. After decades of taped replay, the School Committee is now telecast live.
Community Events
Hull TV covers many community events, including the annual Drowned Hogs Swim in February; the Nantasket Beach Car Show in June; the Endless Summer Festival in September and numerous other fundraisers for community groups. Special Events are our specialty.
History and Perspective
Thanks to the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation, Hull Lifesaving Museum and the Friends of the Hull Public Library, we have scores of lectures by local authors and historians on a wide range of interesting local and regional topics. History is made every day. With a programming library dating back to our inception in 1984, HCTV has a sound and video record of many of the major events that have taken place in Hull during the last thirty years.
Arts & Entertainment
HC-TV is proud to feature several programs by MA Broadcasting Hall of Fame member Ron Della Chiesa, including his series “Elder Cool,” which highlights the accomplishments of people over 55. Music is an important part of life in Hull and HC-TV has recorded a wide and varied collection of local and regional musicians at festivals and fundraising events over the years. In addition to live performances, the Cinzi Lavin Show, hosted by the talented musician and composer of the same name, features interviews with and performances by a wide range of gifted performers.Exploring another popular form of entertainment, HC-TV’s answer to Wayne’s World, Beer Styles, educates the audience about the responsible enjoyment of one of the world’s oldest beverages. Lori Tobin’s Cooking with Kids, offers step by step cooking tips to help provide healthy meals for busy families. A recent addition to our line-up, Chatting with Chamber, features lighthearted interviews with local business owners hosted by actress and comedian Randy Veraguas.
Local Sports
The Hull TV sports reporting team is one of the best on the South Shore. We provide extensive coverage of a wide variety of Hull sports including Hull High football; Girls & Boys Soccer; Lacrosse; Field Hockey; Girls & Boys Basketball; Hockey; Baseball; Softball and track. In addition to school sports, we televise the entire season of Hull Youth Football. Sports reporters Steve Vieira and Alan McCall enhance our coverage with their skilled play-by-play and expert color commentary.

Hull Community Television + PirateTV
Basics
Hull has two cable television providers, Comcast and Verizon. Although funding for PEG (Public/Education/Government) programming is provided by the cable television licensees, as required by Federal regulation, the Station Manager is a Town employee who answers directly to the Town Manager.
The Town provides both cable companies with identical local access programming to distribute to their customers. The Public/Government channel is Comcast 9/Verizon 35. The Education station is Comcast 22/Verizon 34.
History
A new era for Hull Community Television began in 1999 when the original 15 year franchise agreement expired and the Town decided to assume responsibility for local PEG programming. Starting with nothing more than a truckload of old equipment and an outmoded camera system at Town Hall, Hull Community Television has evolved into state-of-the-art access media center. Longtime volunteer Peter Seitz was hired as Program Director in 2000 and, with the support of the Town Manager, within a year HC-TV had an office and an up-to-date remote control camera system at Town Hall; new, high quality, portable equipment and a new community bulletin board.
In 2005, working in co-operation with the Hull Public Schools, Hull TV opened a production facility at the newly renovated Hull High School which featured a professional three camera studio, two editing suites, an office and an equipment room. Once again, all of the equipment was paid for with funds from the cable provider.
Growth
For the past ten years, Hull TV has implemented a continuous improvement plan. With the help of Hull IT Director Judi Saide, we have built our own internal fiber network, which allows file sharing between our facilities at the high school and Town Hall. In 2007, we added a 3 camera robotic system to the Hull High Exhibition Room, adding another location from where we can televise meetings live. We have also greatly improved our coverage of Town Meeting and other large events held in the high school auditorium by installing a co-axial camera control system which links the auditorium to our studio control room. In 2015 we added Video On Demand and live streaming for both channels. We also have 3 YouTube channels-HullTVTube, HCTV Lectures and Hull Pirate TV. Other recent upgrades include a green screen area, improved lighting and a custom designed set for our studio. In 2015 we added Video On Demand and live streaming for both channels.
